Gold as Insurance

There's a lot of talk out there about whether or not Gold is a good investment. Many recommend it as a home run over the next decade while others claim that traditional investment vehicles will far outpace it like they have over the past decade. Regardless of what you believe about the future price of gold, I highly recommend this article, $10,000 Gold, by Michael S. Rozeff. The entire article is good but the last two paragraphs make claims that are hard to ignore. Even if you don't believe that gold makes a good investment, it's hard to ignore the benefits of holding a small portion of your portfolio in gold simply as insurance.
